Weekend Reads (1)

Hola!, today i thought of this thing i could do which is Weekend Reads, and on every Friday (or most, depends on if i am busy during the weekend) i will do a weekend reads post, and tell you about the books or book i plan on reading and finishing during that weekend ( i am not sure if something like this exists already, and if it does please tell me in the comments, but i decided to make it anyway) i made a banner and everything haha ( it isn't the best banner, i suck at making these things, but i am proud of myself for making one haha.
i suck at making these things, okay ? haha.
This weekend i plan on reading

Book title: The fault in our stars
Author: John Green
Published: January 10th 2012

Summary: Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

Me: I've been thinking or a long time if i should read this book or not and i finally decided to do it, and i will read it this weekend ( i would have finished it last night but something awful happened!, i was on youtube watching a review on the book and i went to check the comments and there was a spoiler so now i know what happens at the end god damn it! :/, but i still decided to read it but more slowly)

Don't you hate it when that happens ?, someone leaves a comment with a spoiler and you accidentally read it, and the book is spoiled

Book title: Pride and Prejudice
Author: Jane Austen
First Published: 1813
this book edition was published : 2007 (this is the edition i bought)

Summary: For over 150 years, Pride And Prejudice has remained one of the most popular novels in the English language. Jane Austen herself called this brilliant work her "own darling child." Pride And Prejudice, the story of Mrs. Bennett's attempts to marry off her five daughters is one of the best-loved and most enduring classics in English literature. Excitement fizzes through the Bennett household at Longbourn in Hertfordshire when young, eligible Mr. Charles Bingley rents the fine house nearby. He may have sisters, but he also has male friends, and one of these the haughty, and even wealthier, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy irks the vivacious Elizabeth Bennett, the second of the Bennet girls. She annoys him. Which is how we know they must one day marry. The romantic clash between the opinionated Elizabeth and Darcy is a splendid rendition of civilized sparring. As the characters dance a delicate quadrille of flirtation and intrigue, Jane Austen's radiantly caustic wit and keen observation sparkle. (from goodreads)

Me: i aways wanted to read this book, and I've had it for like a year on my book shelf but I've never read it for some reason. I also wanted to see the movie with Keira Knightley from 2005 and i also want to see the drama with Colin Firth from 1995 but i haven't yet because i wanted to read the book first and now i will. I have seen Bride and Prejudice though ( bollywood version and it was one of my favorite movies when i was younger, i watched it many times, i loved it)

so those are the books that i plan on reading this weekend, since i have nothing to do.

Do you plan on reading anything this weekend ?, if yes then what ?

  2. Hi Nena, I envy you the first reading of Pride and Prejudice. It's such a good book. Both movies are good too. The Keira Knightley version has a slightly more modern attitude. Although, honestly I think a lot of Jane Austen's women feel a little more modern. You do lose a lot of detail in a regular feature length movie. The Colin Firth mini-series is wonderful.

I kind of wish someone had spoiled The Fault in Our Stars for me. I think it's still worth the read. Green is a genius.

yeah, even though i am mad for the spoiler i am kind of a little grateful because now i know what happens and i won't be as heartbroken as i would have been if i hadn't known ( if that makes any sense haha)

  3. The Fault In Our Stars is so good, I'm so sorry that someone spoiled it. I don't understand why people insist on spoiling everything on the internet without the proper warning/tags, it's so unfair to those still reading or waiting to read the book. But maybe this person saved you a couple bucks in Kleenex, at least.

I haven't read Pride And Prejudice yet because quite honestly, I'm not huge on the classics, but I want to be able to said I read most of the big ones in my lifetime so I'm sure it'll find its way into my hands at some point.

Love the blog! I found you on goodreads, and would love it if you could check mine out when/if you have the time.
